Our first model is of the
D&RGW Water service car 010145
The Prototype was use in maintenance of way service all over the Denver and Rio Grande Narrow gauge network. Believed to have been original converted from a passenger car. The clerestory and window arrangement are similar, if not identical, to those of narrow gauge mail cars 14-21, renumbered 1-8 in 1886 and changed to excursion cars 566-573 in 1888. It also appears to have had a larger, baggage car sized door installed at some point. The car is currently on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway, in a very poor state.
The model is to 1:20.3 scale (F) And is primarily made from laser cut ply wood, with trucks from Accucraft and detail parts in cast white metal.
